One design team, every discipline
A building or an industrial plant is designed by many specialists at once: structural engineers and architects, process and mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and the designers of water supply, drainage, roads, fire safety and health and safety. Each discipline produces its own drawings, but on site they must become one coherent whole. Multidisciplinary design is the work of making them agree before construction begins, so that the structure leaves room for the equipment, the services run where they are meant to, and every requirement is met in a single, consistent set of documents.
